Witness: Ms. Lin, a non-smoker who is currently at the age of 38. Relation: husband and wife From Yilan county Participant Mr. Chang, at the age of 37, has been smoking for 19 years, and smoked 1 package of cigarette per day. He has been working in the manufacturing industry, and has two sons in the third grade and first grade respectively of elementary school. He started smoking when he was 18 years old, when he worked in a seafood shop and began smoking with the chefs and his colleagues in order to build up relationships. He didn't expect to smoke for 19 years. His wife had always hoped that he would quit smoking, but he often finds himself not able to stop smoking, which he wants very much to do. The reason for quitting smoking is mainly due to his two sons in the family. They have childhood asthma and dislike the smell of smoke, and their birthday wish was always to wish for their father to quit smoking. In addition, Mr. Chang also noted that his friend's father remained in the hospital for many years due to smoking. Thus, he decided that it is better to quit smoking instead of taking the risk of remaining in the hospital and becoming a burden to his family. Despite his misery in the first two weeks of smoking cessation, Mr. Chang relied on chewing gum and found other things to do to divert his attention, and was often encouraged by his son. After Mr. Chang quit smoking, he got relief from a sore throat, his lung capacity seemed to have also improved, and he became more physically capable of playing with his son. In addition, his colleagues were also influenced by his smoking cessation plan and also decided to quit smoking. Best of all, Mr. Chang can finally tell his son that his birthday wish has come true! 45 Reducing the Demand for Tobacco ◎ 2018 Quit & Win campaign - "Join with me to quit"
