2018 Quit & Win contest Numerous countries have participated in the Quit & Win contest since it was first organized by the Finnish Ministry of Health in 1994. This international smoke cessation contest for adults draws participants from all over the world. Participants try to abstain from smoking or use of tobacco products for a four-week period. Only participants who are completely abstinent from smoking during this period have the chance of winning a large prize. As of 2000, this contest is officially supported and approved by the WHO. In response to the biannual race, the "Quit & Win" stop smoking competition was organized by the John Tung Foundation in 2018. The foundation invited a singer, Harlem (Yu Cheng-Ching), who started smoking at the age of 16 and had quit smoking 30 years ago, as the voluntary spokesperson. During the event, Harlem shared his experience on smoking cessation, with the slogan of "Join with me to quit", to call upon 3 million adult smokers and their non-smoking families and friends to participate in the 2018 "Quit & Win" stop smoking competition, with the aim of encouraging people, especially young people who are the critical pillars of the family, to quit smoking as early as possible to care for their own health for the health of his family and friends. In order to improve the visibility and accessibility of the competition, the foundation once again cooperated with the Ministry of Justice. This year, Chen Ming-Tang, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Justice, and Huang Jun-Tang, the head of the Agency of Corrections, actively advocated for the competition, and encouraged all inmates to register for the competition and no longer be controlled by tobacco products, so that inmates can manage their own health again. With that, inmates can create a positive influence for themselves and their family by "Planning for smoking cessation". In addition, apart from the dedicated efforts of the local health departments on the advocacy for smoking cessation, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology had also jointly cooperated with Taiwan Taxi, Da-Ai Taxi, My Taxi, Fanyataxi, City Taxi, Police Taxi, and 55688 Taxi and other main taxi companies, in order for 18,000 taxi drivers to participate in the smoking cessation promotion volunteers, and obtain full support from taxi companies on the "2018 Quit & Win" stop smoking competition. Under the support of the domestic stores and joint efforts of various media, the "2018 Quit & Win" stop smoking competition successfully attracted 21,323 smoke addicts to register for the competition. According to the statistics of the past 9 competitions in May, the smoking cessation success rate of participants was up to 70%, which helped an estimated more than 15 thousand families avoid second-hand smoke, and assisted participants on improving their own health. 42 ◎ 2018 Quit & Win campaign - "Join with me to quit"
