In other words, viewers are exposed to such information every 1.7 minutes on average. It should also be pointed out that the number of tobacco product depictions in dramas has been increasing in recent years. For example, 28 tobacco product depictions were detected in the sampled episodes of "New Shanghai". Frequent depictions were also identified in other TV dramas such as "The Good Wife" (8 times on average). Internet monitoring The Internet is an emerging medium that has unquestionably replaced certain traditional media. Monitoring of tobacco product and e-cigarette depictions on the Internet was therefore added as a new item in 2015. The main findings and trends revealed through comparison of the data for 2018 is as follows: 1. Different from past subjects such as "tobacco price", "tobacco taxation", and "tobacco surcharge" which attracted large amounts of attention from social media and news media, recent research indicate that there have obviously been more discussions on "e-cigarettes". From August to October 2018, the difference in the proportion of news dealing with tobacco products on social media sites (344 news reports, representing 39.6% of the total news reports) and news and media websites (525 news reports, representing 60.4% of the total news reports) was larger than the first half of 2018 (with proportions of 40% and 60% respectively). The end- of-year monitoring results showed that news media prevails over social media, undermining the past results of the news on tobacco products which showed that discussions were mainly focused in social media. Discussions among social and news media are also different for various tobacco smoking issues. In PTT, only the two keywords "tobacco price" and "light cigarettes" are more often discussed than other major news media, whereas the five major issues "cigarettes", "e-cigarette", "vaporizer", "tobacco surcharge", and "tobacco taxation" are more often discussed in the news media than in PTT.
