The amendment to the "Tobacco and Alcohol Tax Act" was announced on the tobacco product surcharge of May 10, 2017 NT$1,590 per thousand cigarettes, which increased from NTD 20 per pack to NTD 51.8 per pack. The Act came into effect on June 12, 2017. October 18, 2018 The Social Welfare and Environmental Hygiene Committee of the Legislative Yuan convened the 7th Social Welfare and Environmental Hygiene Committee Meeting to report the health hazards of tobacco products (including heated tobacco, e - cigarettes and other tobacco products) and the effectiveness of smoking cessation methods.
